H.O.O.P. Foundation (Holistic Offerings and Opportunity for People) is a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation and not organized for the private gain of any person. Organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for Charitable Purposes.  

 

The purpose: To cultivate comprehensive, effective techniques and strategies that will direct

at-risk and underserved young people, emancipated youth and those reentering from incarceration into positive alternatives;

By engaging in research, mentoring, education assessments and tutoring; competitive team athletics, employment training, housing assistance and other related projects.

Through a referral network of linkages with churches, courts, police, other juvenile justice agencies, schools, social service agencies and community organizations, nonprofit organizations, state and government agenciesa as well as through direct outreach efforts, youth are recruited, assessed and mainstreamed into programs as a diversion from drop outs, gang activity, recidivism, unemployment and lack of social skills.

H.O.O.P’s mission and activities are designed to address the myriad social, education and health problems that emancipated and other at-risk youth encounter on a daily basis and to increase their quality of life.  The overall mission is to provide a multi-level traditional remedial, wellness and health related educational component, job training, physical activities, life coaching and multi-cultured experiences to at risk youth.

The project will specifically target youth in the service area, as well as, Inglewood California and will provide the aforementioned activities to approximately 100-150 youth per year.  The project will be open to all eligible youth, but will primarily serve disadvantaged Hispanic and African-Americans who reside in economically suppressed, disadvantaged communities, such as, the service area.  Demographics of the project’s targeted area, reveals that this area is one of the most severely economically depressed and medically underserved communities in California. Crime, violence and gang activity in the targeted area are rampant and the unemployment and poverty rate is high.
